LICENSING POLICY
Acronis licenses its software ("Software") to its customers based on the number of machines (either physical or virtual) the Software is installed on. The Acronis Software is licensed to a specific machine, and each license is non-assignable, except in the limited circumstance where the licensed machine becomes obsolete or non-functioning and is taken out of service – in such a case the license is transferrable to a replacement machine (Licenses for machines deployed using Snap Deploy may not be transferred).
- Standard License. The standard software license is one (1) license per one (1) machine (physical or virtual).
- Family Pack License. The Family pack license is one (1) license for three (3) machines (physical or virtual).
"Machine" means a single operating environment. For instance, each instance of a Windows or Linux operating system is considered a single "machine", even if multiple instances are installed on a single computer.
EXCEPTIONS
There are exceptions to Acronis’s standard licensing policy.
- Acronis Backup & Recovery® 11 Advanced Server – Virtual edition. This product may be used to backup one (1) physical host server and up to an unlimited number of virtual machines (limitations are based on your system configuration) that are residing on the same host server.
- Acronis Backup & Recovery® 11 Advanced Server. This product may be used to backup one (1) physical host server and up to four (4) virtual machines that are residing on the same host server.
- Acronis® subscription based product support. Acronis provides subscription based product support for the terms specified next to the following products:
- Acronis® Backup & Security™ 2011. The license is valid for one (1) year and for three (3) physical computers.
- Acronis® Backup & Security™ 2010. The license is valid for one (1) year and for three (3) physical computers.
- Acronis® Internet Security™ Suite 2010. The license is valid for one (1) year and for three (3) physical computers.
- Acronis® AntiVirus™ 2010. The license is valid for one (1) year and for three (3) physical computers.
- Acronis True Image Online. The license is based on the purchased subscription term for the specified number of machines (physical of virtual).
- Acronis® Backup & Recovery™ Online. The license is based on the purchased subscription term for the specified number of machines (physical of virtual).
- Acronis® vmProtect. This product is licensed on a per "CPU" basis.
- Acronis® Snap Deploy® Machine License and Acronis® Universal Deploy®. A license is required for each target computer
- Acronis® Snap Deploy® Deployment License. A license is required for each deployment.

KEYS / PIRACY
Acronis issues license keys for each license purchased. The end-user is authorized to use each license key to activate and use the Software within the parameters of this Licensing Policy. The use, distribution, or sale of Acronis license keys for any purpose other than as specifically permitted by this Policy and in the End User License Agreement is strictly prohibited. Acronis takes all instances of unauthorized use of its Software seriously, and such unauthorized use may result in civil or criminal action to enforce the terms of the EULA and this Policy, and the imposition of civil or criminal fines or penalties.
